Retail and stores

Workplace wellbeing in retail: many small stores, one map

A store of four people isn't a data point: it's four people. BienestarHR groups by region to reach 5 responses, and HR sees where to act without singling anyone out.

The starting point

What happens in retail and stores

Three situations that keep coming back. None of them is fixed by an annual survey.

Teams too small for a survey

With three people per store, any result gives someone away. So nobody asks, or they ask and nobody answers truthfully.

Head office doesn't see the store

The regional manager visits each store every few weeks. Between visits, what happens at the counter stays there.

Hours and turnover during campaigns

Sales, Christmas, stocktake. Hours go up, people hold on and then leave. And recruitment starts again.

How it fits

How BienestarHR fits

Measure, understand, act and check. These are the pieces that matter most in this sector.

Privacy and anonymity

How to reach 5 with stores of 3

Each store is a team and each region or area is a site. The store alone doesn't appear, but it counts towards the region and the company. If a region is hidden, another small one is hidden too so nobody can work it out by subtracting from the total.

  • Score per region and per company
  • The small store is never shown on its own
  • Protection against working it out by difference

20-second check-in

At opening or closing, from a phone

Energy, workload and mood in three taps. No store computer or email account: a QR code in the stockroom and SMS verification.

  • Log in by QR code and phone
  • The person sees their own trend
  • HR sees the region, not the person

Benefits

The company's perks, in the same place

Staff discount, campaign hours, short courses. Published as offers, and HR sees interest as totals. No payment gateway or checkout.

  • Offers published by the company
  • Interest as totals, not per person
  • Recognition between colleagues

Roles

What each role sees

The rule is the same in every sector: each person sees their own data and the team is read as an aggregate.

Person

Sees their own data

Their account is theirs. Nobody else sees it.

  • Their check-in and their trend
  • Benefits and recognition
  • Short courses from their phone
  • Nobody sees their answer
Manager

Sees their team

Only as an aggregate and from 5 responses.

  • Their region, from 5 responses
  • The region's alerts and plans
  • Doesn't see the store if it doesn't reach 5
HR

Sees the company

Map, alerts, plans and report. Never a record.

  • Map per region and company
  • Climate and exit surveys
  • 30-day report
  • Never an individual record

Each person sees their own data. HR sees the team, and only from 5 responses. Never an individual record.

Questions about retail and stores

My stores have 3 or 4 people. Will I see anything?

You'll see the region and the company, not the individual store. Create regions as sites and each store as a team. As soon as the region gathers 5 responses, its score appears. The small store is always protected.

Does the store manager see their team's answers?

No. As a manager they see their scope's aggregate only if it reaches 5 responses. With fewer, they see there isn't enough data. They never see answers or names.

How do they get in without a company email?

With the company's QR code and their phone. They get a code by SMS and they're in. If HR enables it, an employee ID is also requested to check they're on the list.

Can it be used during a campaign without wearing people out?

Yes. The check-in takes about 20 seconds and the quick survey has two or three questions. The company decides the frequency, and each person can mute reminders.
